Dhammapada Verse 12

12. Those who know the essential to be essential and the unessential to be unessential, dwelling in right thoughts, do arrive at the essential.
commentary:
For those who are just following, we are reading from Dhammapada every day. Here are the sources that are used to put together the readings, for Pali, Khmer, and English.
PALI SOURCE
KHMER SOURCE
ENGLISH SOURCE
The reason a different source is used for the English version is that I think the translation by Acharya Buddharakkhita is better than other English translations.
The Pali is provided because it captures the original teaching of Buddha in the language used at the time, and we can refer back to the original source for any disputes in meaning.
Rather than dwell on slight differences in translations, though, we should strive to arrive at a deep understanding of the meaning and intent of Buddha’s teachings, and put into practice in our lives.
It’s fine for anyone who wishes to study ahead or alone. When we can study together, at same pace, we can come together into a community.
